i love seeing these examples of the common seeds running throughout the world´s major religions. with the alfombras, you see the familiar acceptance of life´s inevitable cycle of birth (creation) and death (destruction). artists spend all day creating these street masterpieces out of colored sawdust. at the end of the day the procession passes over them as sweepers wipe the space clean. i started the week with the alfombras and ended it with a buddhist meditation retreat in managua. perfectly blissful.
