My Irish friends Maria, Thresa and I traveled to Matagalpa last month to visit and interview women and children who work the immense coffee farms. They greeted us graciously and offered us some perspective on the challenges they face and the Nicaraguan coffee industry, second largest in the region after Colombia. The conditions of the coffee workers communities are very similar to those I observed in Chiapas.
